---------
books:
unnatural wonders - danto:
read his "after the end of art" & need time to digest as i am not sure where i fit within this mindset.
georgia o'keeffe museum collections:
got this book from library
have never been a fan of o'keeffe, yet have not seen that much of her work in person . so the judgment is still out. on artists that are held in high regard (like monet) i try not to dislike until i see at least in the ballpark of a 100 paintings in person before passing judgment. as for o'keeffe, the first in person viewing of one of her paintings was of a red flower at the moma in sf > it sucked. the brush strokes were overworked/tedious like she didn't know what to do & what she had done was not working >bad student work. did see her stuff at the norton simon & it looked like it was painted by a dif person (than whomever painted the red flower). anyhoo, much of her compositions that brought her fame always seemed to have spun off those of the photographers her hubby represented (like imogen cunningham's erotic flowers) and this bothered me a bit as accolades should have gone to the originator rather than the appropriation. as for the book > did like some of her cottonwood images < new 2 me.

my art stuff:
hung my solo show in pebble beach yesterday (aug 1st) need to tweek it & the documentation a bit today.
new art:
finishing up large landscape painting (& modifying frame) to be installed at the new library(opens 9/07)
mfa art:
art is to be paint/cpu hybrid so now i am playing with manipulating images of my paintings. not sure how to make the hybrid thing fly yet. at this moment think the digial can at best take my paint stuff somewhere new. it is sort of an oil & water association between dig & paint at the moment. think i need to add more elements/complexity < maybe lenticular?
